Maison et Objet - Mood & Trends 2017
Bedroom design – the process
Fresh And So To Bed bedroom collections and feature pieces continuously evolve in the wings and the finished articles can take months to design and craft. The creative process is partly influenced by looking outwards at movements in interiors, furniture, art, architecture and beyond. To this end, we recently took the trip to one of the biggest global interiors shows, Maison & Objet, Paris - to top up on luxury trends in colours, materials and patterns.
Read on to see snapshots of our take on this year’s interiors influences.
We absolutely love the visual and sensory hit of Maison & Objet. Buyer and product development doyenne Lucy spent two days and 18,500 steps on her iPhone, exploring this vast show, sensing seasons to come, forming new ideas for re-mastering existing classics and sparking stand-out style with And So To Bed’s unique take on Maison & Objet’s magnificent melting pot of ideas.
Interiors Inspiration 2017
Here’s what caught her eye… Spring/Summer 17 is so the season of the circle!
Circular mirror walls. We’ve already had a glimpse of this so-stylish wall wonder in our most recent Louis XV Caned Bed photoshoot at Aynhoe Park. Pressed foliage and botanicals in frame groups continue the themes of outside/in, heritage collections and historical travel to faraway climes. Perfect partners for brass beds in Victorian townhouses.
With a nod to Pantone’s Colour of the Year ‘Greenery’, the green theme was very much in evidence at Maison et Objet. Emerald green shone and many verdant shades besides, seen in accessories, softs, lighting and furniture.
Royal blues are another strong trend colour. Look out for And So To Bed bedding references in the coming season. Thinking cushions, throws, curtains and rich, voluptuous velvet. Pretty perfect for the bedroom, we truly heart the romantic soft pinks moment in plush upholstery, recently touched on in the styling of our modern classic nickel-meets-velvet Pimlico bed.
Speaking of modern/neo-classic, we continue to covet interesting geometric/greek motifs as shown here on fabrics, ceramics, embossed leathers and shagreen.
Mustard & grey is a personal favourite of Lucy whose own living room is decorated in this delicious warm/cool marriage. Our classic deep-buttoned Emilia bed was recently re-styled too in this smart colourway.
Green repeats again in large palm and foliage prints on wall coverings and fabrics.
Bold tropical prints partnered with Art Deco furniture include flocks of flamingoes featuring on walls, fabrics and objects.
We love these super real artificial silk plants from Silk-ka to add low-maintenance life to a wide range of contemporary or period schemes.
If more leafy looks don’t suit then cacti are also making a come back.
The show’s over! Whilst interiors fashion is always inspirational in our work, it’s so important to interpret looks in our own unique style and now and then, we buck the trend with wild, flamboyant one-offs.
And So To Bed can help realise bespoke client designs with a cutting edge awareness of luxury furniture design fashion teamed with high end craftsmanship.
Are you pocketing any of these looks in your schemes for 2017? Have you spied a wallpaper pattern, fabulous fabric or paint colour that has to feature in your dream bedroom scheme? As well as via our expert showroom teams, we’d love to hear your views and chat about your ideas via And So To Bed’s social desks: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest. #AndSoToBed #AndSoToBedSS17 #MO17
