Seasonal Souls
It may seem hackneyed and well-worn to some but the changing seasons in the UK do quite magically move the mood of the nation. Distinct equinoctial switches are flicked in textile fashion and interior trends as we sense the new colourways, sights and sounds of our seasonal habitats… and so the world turns.
As spring moves through to summer, lux levels lift, grass is mown, shades are donned and winter’s dark walls make way for intriguing geometric patterns or leafy botanic designs – gently shifting from bold florals to deeply pleasing greenery. These moods also flow through our world at And So To Bed – through bedroom design and all that accompanies it.
Seasonal bedroom styling can start with a refresh in accessories – clever swapping of cushions and throws, the odd chair re-upholstered or found piece painted. Bringing in fresh flowers, foliage and pot plants adds natural splashes of seasonal texture and colour.
For longer lasting horti. displays, we adore Silk-ka’s faux flowers and plants. Swoon over their Spring/Summer 2017 collection. It’s time too, to think through the very best bed linen for you. For new looks, revel in some creative research first via the latest Pinterest mood boards or inspiration insights from shows such as Maison et Objet.
At the best British hotels, spring is also a natural window to take stock of room revivals and the most up-to-date design movements and detailing. As well as top spots for interior touches tips, the hippest hotels can be hot hubs for brushing up on bedroom design detailing as well as getting up close to some lovely luxury linen and the most comforting, topper topped mattresses. After all, it is their business to offer the ultimate in good sleep sense.
As night-time temperatures increase, consider a seasonal switch of duvet weight. Brinkhaus’s For All Seasons Duvets cover all bases - a set of two duvets filled with top-grade European goose down, 4.5 tog for summer and 9 tog for Autumn. Both can be neatly joined together for a combo effect on the coldest winter nights.
Back at base, And So To Bed’s Buying & Creative teams are crafting seasonal styling ideas for the next dreamy bedroom photoshoots. We’ll keep you posted on our unique take on this year’s moods and trends. Please do share your own coveted themes, especially any And So To Bed projects - #AndSoToMYBed - striking up some interiors chat with us across the social media accounts in the meantime – Twitter, Facebook & Instagram. We’d love to hear from you.
