FAQs About Children’s Mattresses
How do I choose the right size mattress for kids?
Having a good night’s sleep is essential for your child’s development, so choosing a mattress for your child is just as important. High-quality materials and breathability are both important factors to consider, that’s why all of our junior mattresses have a 100% cotton cover. Memory foam mattresses should be avoided for young children as they mould too closely to their small frames, a kids’ pocket sprung mattress or open coil mattress provides plenty of support for their growing bones.
With children who are ready for an adult-sized mattress, you might want to involve them in the decision-making process.
If you’re still unsure, why not book a consultation with one of our sleep experts or visit a showroom near you?
What type of mattress is best for kids?
There’s no single “best” mattress for every child, but key factors to consider include support, comfort, and temperature regulation. A good children’s mattress should provide the right level of support for their growing bodies while offering enough cushioning to keep them comfortable. Their sleeping position can also influence the choice – side sleepers may prefer a softer feel, while back and front sleepers often benefit from a firmer surface.
Our children’s mattresses offer consistent support and comfort throughout every stage of development, helping them sleep soundly as they grow.
How thick should a kids' mattress be?
A children's mattress should typically be around five to eight inches thick. If the mattress will be on a bunk bed, the mattress should be no more than 15cm thick to ensure sufficient safety rail height.
What’s the best way to look after your child's mattress?
With proper care, your child’s mattress can last at least 10 years. You can prolong the mattress’ life by using a children's mattress protector, regularly rotating the mattress and changing your child’s sheets often.
